Instruments of Measure

For awhile now I have been creating two-dimensional works that suggest ambiguous maps, graphs, and diagrams. The natural extension of this work has been to create instruments of measure that would perform the analysis and provide the “data”from which the graphic is derived.

The instruments are built from an assortment of found and acquired materials. I build them (despite their scattered origins) to look like truly functional objects. That function, rather than directing the work, is discovered through the making.
